Brewery Reviews
Brewtique is able to perform a technical review of your brewery. This can be across the whole brewery or focussed on a specific area (e.g. brewing or bottling) or activity (safety or quality).
Some example of Reviews that can be performed follows, or we can design one specifically for you.
- Production Process Control
This covers all areas of the brewery including Raw Material input, Brewing, Fermentation, Storage, Filtration, Blending and Packaging. The review would encompass Production Planning and Performance to Budget, Process Documentation and Procedures, Quality Control and Quality Assurance, Standard Operating Procedures, Product Wastage, Plant Efficiency, Plant Hygiene, Cost Control, Compliance to Procedures and Standards and Process Optimization. We are able to support the review by developing process control charts which also facilitate trend analysis.
- Raw Materials and Packaging Materials
Evaluation of the supply, supplier performance, quality control and quality assurance, process and systems management reporting, cost control (including wastage, product utilisation, efficiency etc.) and inventory management.
- Quality Control and Quality Assurance
We will review all systems and processes and evaluate the laboratory capability (chemical and microbiological), control measures and reporting standards. We will assess external laboratory support currently in place and provide recommendations on suitability of current control measures. Included will be an evaluation of the analytical and organoleptic assessment of raw materials, packaging materials, process control and end product samples. We will assess the capability and training of the technical staff involved in product evaluation. It would be our intention during the review to conduct a taste panel assessment of all products (including a keeping quality assessment) and an evaluation of product quality in the trade. The review could include an exisiting product complaint system and determine the efficacy of the current procedures, reporting and management control.
- O.H.S & E (Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental)
We would conduct a plant and people safety review to determine conformance to policy, procedures and standards including personal safety, safety conformance standards of all equipment and workplace conditions. We would also review safety reporting (including incidents and accidents and their assessment, Lost Time Injuries etc.), safety culture in the workplace and employee engagement. Included would be a review of the adherence to environmental policy and standards including waste treatment, materials handling and noise control etc.
A review of all fixed assets will be performed, including buildings, production plant and equipment and utilities (steam generation, refrigeration, compressed air, water, and electricity supply, CO2 recovery etc.). We will evaluate the plant and equipment suitability, capability and operation (including equipment optimisation, efficiency and effectiveness). We will review maintenance standards and compliance with any preventive maintenance program in place. We will also review recently completed capital projects and conformance to performance standards and identify potential capital expenditure requirements.
The focus of this review is the capability and competency of staff and the skills development in place. Included is the development of a skills matrix which would identify the multi-skilled capability of staff, any potential skills gaps and development needs. Labour relations, organisational structure and senior staff succession planning would also be reviewed.
- Warehousing and Distribution
The review would include inventory control, storage, stock handling (report documentation and procedures) and product quality management in the trade.
Review suitability and efficacy of existing computer control systems including management reporting and production process control. Provide recommendations on updating of systems if required.
